B.I.O.S.I.S. - The Biotechnology Interactive Online Science Information System is an electronic forum for debate about biotechnology. B.I.O.S.I.S. attempts to provide sufficient information for users to make up their own minds on a range of controversial biotechnology issues, the chance to directly interact with concerned parties by questioning them about specific issues, and interactive participation to increase scientific democracy.
Teacher-Developed Science Activities - A list of possible Earth and space science related activities which teachers can use in classrooms. Some topics are: astrophysics, research with an artifical Earth orbiting satellite, satellite communications, and earthquakes.
The Virtual FlyLab - Allows the user to act as a research geneticist, with the research model being the fruit fly. The experiment involves crossing selected flies with different mutations in order to learn more about the principles of genetic inheritance.
The Why Files - A Web site by the National Institute for Science Education, which contains information on various topics related to physical science, life science, environmental science, mathematics, engineering, and technology. A new topic is featured twice a month.
The Science Learning Network - The Science Learning Network (SLN) is an online community of educators, students, schools, science museums and other institutions demonstrating a new model for inquiry science education. SLN is also a three-year, project funded by the National Science Foundation and Unisys Corporation. The project incorporates inquiry-based teaching approaches, telecomputing, collaboration among geographically dispersed teachers and classrooms, and Internet/World Wide Web content resources.
Welcome to the Planets - This is a collection of many of the best images from NASA's planetary exploration program. The collection has been extracted from the interactive program "Welcome to the Planets" which was distributed on the Planetary Data System Educational CD-ROM Version 1.5 in December 1995.
